Right now, AI is being used to harm children. It does not have to be this way.
You Can Push Back is demanding common sense guardrails to protect kids:
- Before AI systems are released they should be required to undergo robust and independent third-party auditing to verify their safety.
- AI companies must not be given section 230 like liability shields that prevent them from being held liable for the harms they cause to children.
- App stores and search engines must prevent the distribution of harmful AI tools, like nudify apps, that can be weaponized to harm children.
- Platforms that develop and host AI systems must be required to implement strong safety by design standards to ensure those systems will not harm children.
- Congress must not pass preemptive legislation that would prevent states from passing and enforcing guardrails to protect children online.
The technology to fix these dangers exists, but the accountability does not.
